The Missing Reformed Doctrine for Spiritual Formation
Scripture Focus
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
— Romans 12:2
A Deeper Prayer
Dear Lord, we come before You with a sense of longing and desire for a more profound connection with Your divine presence. We recognize that the Reformed doctrine has provided a solid foundation for our understanding of faith and practice, but we also sense that there is a missing element - a doctrine that explicitly addresses the process of spiritual formation. We pray that You would reveal to us the importance of spiritual disciplines, such as prayer, meditation, and fasting, and how these practices can shape our minds and hearts to be more like Christ. May we be transformed by the renewing of our minds, and may we be empowered to live out our faith in a way that is pleasing to You. Help us to move beyond mere intellectual assent to the truths of Scripture, and may we experience a deep and abiding sense of spiritual growth and maturity. May Your Spirit guide us on this journey, and may we be conformed to the image of Your Son, Jesus Christ. As we seek to understand and implement the missing Reformed doctrine for spiritual formation, may we be mindful of the fact that true spiritual growth is a lifelong process, one that requires patience, perseverance, and a willingness to be shaped and molded by Your sovereign hand.
A Short Prayer
"Dear Heavenly Father, we pray for a deeper understanding of spiritual formation and its importance in our walk with You, guide us in our pursuit of a more intimate relationship with You, and may Your will be done in our lives."
