Christ’s Skin for Mine: Autoimmune Disease and the Christian Life
Scripture Focus
"But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
— Isaiah 53:5
A Deeper Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You today with hearts heavy with concern for our brothers and sisters who suffer from autoimmune diseases. These conditions, which cause the body to attack its own skin and tissues, can be frustrating, painful, and debilitating, affecting not just the physical body, but also the emotional and spiritual well-being of those afflicted. We pray that You would be their rock, their comfort, and their healer, that You would guide them through the darkest of times and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. May they find solace in the knowledge that Christ, who bore our sins and our diseases on the cross, is always with them, and that He is willing to exchange His skin for theirs, bearing their burdens and pains, just as He bore our sins on the cross. We ask that You would give them strength, courage, and perseverance, and that You would provide them with the best medical care possible, that they may experience Your healing and restoration in their lives. May their faith in You be strengthened, and may they be a testimony to Your love and power, even in the midst of suffering.
A Short Prayer
"Dear Heavenly Father, we pray for those suffering from autoimmune diseases, that they may find comfort in Your presence and healing in Your love, and that You would exchange Christ's skin for theirs, bearing their burdens and pains, just as He bore our sins on the cross."
