Brandon Lake’s CMA Fest Cowboy Church Drew a Massive Crowd — and a Few Surprise Guests
Brandon Lake closed out CMA Fest Sunday morning with a packed Cowboy Church set on the Chevy Riverfront Stage in Nashville, bringing out CeCe Winans, Dan + Shay, Lainey Wilson and more before a crowd that overflowed into two separate livestream areas.
Winans joined Lake to perform “I Know a Name” and “Come Jesus Come.” Dan + Shay followed with “She Believes in Me.” Wilson — unannounced ahead of the show — performed her and Lake’s duet “The Jesus I Know.” Jamie MacDonald, Leanna Crawford and Moriah also appeared as part of the weekend’s Christian music programming.

Early in the set, Lake brought out CeCe Winans to perform their collaboration “I Know a Name.” Mid-song, fans near the stage started waving frantically — a concertgoer had passed out in the heat. Lake stopped the set to check in.
“This is more important,” he told the crowd, then led the audience in prayer: “In Jesus’ name — revive him right now. Give him strength.”
Winans sang quietly over the crowd while the medical team worked. Within 10 minutes, the person was carried out safely.
“Let’s give it up for our medical team, officers,” Lake said afterward. “On that note — drink your water. God is a healer, but we’ve got to be smart.”
Lake then closed the worship set with “Hard Fought Hallelujah” and “Gratitude.”
Cowboy Church was born out of Lake’s appearance at last year’s CMA Fest.
“Something special happened at the riverfront during CMA Fest last year, and I knew we had to do it again,” he said. “We’re calling it ‘Cowboy Church.’ Not the kind of church with suits and pews… the kind for the wanderers, the worn-out, the misfits, the ones who aren’t sure they belong anywhere.”
