How do I hear God's voice?

The Biblical Answer

Many Christians desire an audible voice from heaven, but God most commonly speaks to us in ways that require a quiet and attentive heart. The primary and most authoritative way God speaks is through His written Word, the Bible. If you want to hear God speak, read scripture!

Additionally, God speaks through the gentle nudges and convictions of the Holy Spirit (often called a "still small voice"). He also speaks through godly counsel from mature believers and through circumstances. To hear Him, we must turn down the noise of the world, spend time in quiet prayer, and align our hearts with His Word. God is always speaking; the question is whether we are listening.

"My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me."

John 10:27

A Prayer for This

"Lord, quiet the distractions in my mind and tune my spiritual ears to Your voice. Give me a hunger for Your Word and the discernment to recognize Your guidance in my daily life. Amen."
