Biblical Question
Biblical Perspective on Global Warming and Care of the Earth
The Biblical Answer
As Christians, we're called to be good stewards of God's creation, using it wisely for the benefit of all people and for God's glory (Genesis 1:26-28). This means taking care of the earth's resources, reducing our impact on the environment, and living in a way that honors God. The Bible encourages us to be good custodians of the earth and its resources (Psalm 24:1), and to live in harmony with the natural world. This responsibility is not just a moral obligation, but a spiritual one – recognizing that we're connected to God and to one another through creation.
In the book of Deuteronomy, God gives humans a 'mandate to care,' instructing us to subdue the earth and rule over it wisely. This responsibility is not just about our individual actions, but also about working together as a community to ensure that the earth remains a vibrant, thriving place for all future generations (Isaiah 11:9).

"The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; <br/> for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters."
A Prayer for This
"Dear God, thank you for the beauty and wonder of your creation. Help us to honor you by taking care of the earth and its resources. Guide us in our efforts to reduce our impact and live in harmony with the natural world, that we may glorify you in all we do."
