A Prayer for Strength to Resist Temptation

Holy God, I come to You in a moment of vulnerability. Temptation is knocking at the door of my heart, and I know that in my own strength, I am not strong enough to resist. But Your Word declares that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, and I cling to that promise right now. Father, expose the lie behind this temptation. Help me to see it for what it truly is — a counterfeit offering that promises fulfillment but delivers only emptiness and shame. Remind me of the consequences of giving in, and more importantly, remind me of the freedom and joy that come from walking in obedience to You. Strengthen my resolve, Lord. Guard my mind, my eyes, my hands, and my feet. Put a hedge of protection around me and remove me from situations that make me vulnerable. Give me the wisdom to flee from temptation rather than trying to resist it in my own power. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit in this very moment. Let Your presence be so real and so powerful within me that the pull of temptation fades in comparison. Replace the desire for what is sinful with a deeper desire for what is holy. Lord, I know I will face temptation again. Build my character through this struggle. Use every battle to make me stronger, more dependent on You, and more aware of the enemy's tactics. Thank You for the promise that You will never let me be tempted beyond what I can bear. I trust You, Father. In Jesus' victorious name, Amen.
